Aitkul Baigaziyevna Samakova
Ms. Samakova is the chairperson of the National Committee under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of family and women. She is also appointed Minister without portfolio on Family and Women's Affairs.

Irina Savostina
She is the outspoken chairperson of the influential Kazakhstan's Pokoleniye (Generation) movement, which has united elderly citizens of the country. Acknowledged as one of the leaders of the Democratic Forces of Kazakhstan, she is costantly being harassed by the government and was always under the threat of being arrested. A Medeuskiy District Court in Almaty fined and ordered administrative arrest of Ms. Savostina in 1999 for her participation in the founding meeting of Za Chestnye Vybory ("For Honest Elections").

Sakhip Zhanabaeva
She is one of the leader of Kazakhstan's Workers movement. In December 2000, Zhanabaeva went on hunger strike in her cell at Almaty's Bostandyq Police's jail.

Zhanabaeva had been stopped by police on 12 December 2000 and brought to Bostandyq District Court, where Judge Tatiyana Chernysh found her guilty of having taking part in a non-sanctioned mass gathering on November 30 and sentenced her to five days in jail.
