Clearinghouse
for Information on Women in Development (PIWD)
The Clearinghouse was established in 1979 by the Junior Minister
for the Role of Women, in cooperation with the Center for Scientific
Documentation and Information of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences.
The development of the clearinghouse was entrusted to the latter.
Originally designed to serve policy makers, the clearinghouse
now serves centres for women's studies as well. The collection
consists of approximately 8000 titles. One of the publications
of the clearinghouse is a thesaurus on women and development.

association has as its background a common concern on the necessity
of rendering legal service and aid to women with feminist perspective
and attitude, especially to those who are poor and oppressed.

democratic society, where there is an equality between women and
men in all aspects of political, economic, social and cultural
lives.

KOWANI
- Kongres Wanita Indonesia
KOWANI, established in 1928, is a federation of 70 nation-wide
voluntary women's organisations with a total of 25 million women
throughout its member-organizations. KOWANI's vision is to act
as a striving vehicle for the unity and unanimity of Indonesian
women which coordinate women's potential and also channel their
aspirations in creating a peaceful, just and sustainable development
at the national, regional and international level.

Resource Centre for Gender and Health
The Resource Centre originated from a women's health project called
"Women's health from a women's perspective". Over a
period of four years, a network of NGOs and universities throughout
Indonesia, concerned with gender and women's health issues, was
established. The main objectives of this project were to increase
knowledge regarding the complexity of women's health issues, to
disseminate information from Jakarta to the outer islands, to
publish a monthly newsletter and networking.
