THE
COURSE
It is designed for middle and
senior level government executives who are leading or participating
in governance reform initiatives in their respective countries. It aims
to propel them to formulate specific action agenda towards a gender-responsive
governance. Specifically, the course intends to help participants to:
- gain theoretical and practical understanding
and appreciation of the Gender and Development (GAD) and governance
concepts and their inter-relationship;
- acquire skills in identifying and analyzing
gender-related issues and biases in governance; and
- formulate a doable action plan to address
these gender biases and concerns.
THE COURSE FEE
The Training of Trainers on MAKING GOVERNANCE GENDER-RESPONSIVE: A BASIC
COURSE conference fees are Four Hundred Eighty Five Dollars (US$485.00)
per participant. This fee is inclusive of transfer in and out of the
hotel, half day city tour, 7 nights twin occupancy hotel accommodation
from the night of September 22 to the night of September 28, 2002; all
training materials, six (6) lunches, twelve (12) snacks (2 per day),
seven (7) breakfasts (covering the breakfasts on September 23 to September
29, 2002). This fee must be paid in advance as soon as the registration
is confirmed. This fee does not include airfare, airport terminal fees
and all dinners. An additional fee of Twenty-Eight Dollars (US$28.00)
per day or a total of One Hundred Ninety Six (US$196.00) for the duration
of the training will be charged to participants who want to have their
own room, which should be arranged in advance with the Conference Secretariat.

THE ORGANIZERS
The Asia Pacific Gender Equality
Network (APGEN) strengthens regional coordination and cooperation
to address issues of feminization of poverty and gender inequality in
decision-making within the framework of the Convention on the Elimination
of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
The PARAGON Regional Governance Programme's objective is to
promote a humane governance-enabling environment for sustainable human
development and human security in Asia. This objective is achieved through
facilitation of interaction between civil society, the private sector
and governmental decision-makers in the prioritized areas of Rights
and Development, Peace and Development and Decentralization and Local
Empowerment. One key theme with strong synergies cutting across the
prioritized programmes areas is gender and governance. To date, PARAGON
has undertaken several gender and governance related support initiatives
that cover the fields of institutional capacity building, policy advice
and experience sharing.
The CENTER FOR ASIA-PACIFIC WOMEN IN POLITICS (CAPWIP) is a non-partisan,
non-profit and non-governmental regional organization dedicated to promoting
equal participation of women in politics, governance and decision-making.
