The Women in Sports committee will use the Fiji Games to encourage as many women as possible to try out the different sports on the programme.
Earlier this year, the Prime Minister's wife, Leba Qarase, had launched the women in sport committee with the theme "Come and Try" during the women's day celebrations.
Mrs Qarase had encouraged women to take part in as many sports as possible.
The WIS committee was formed to increase and enhance sports and find opportunities for all girls and women and create an educated public.
It was done to support gender equity in all areas of sports, including administration and at the National Olympic Committee level.
The committee hopes to be a resource body for women and sports and facilitate research on relevant matters to act as a liaison for local and international matters pertaining to Women in Sports.
Committee spokeswoman Lyndall Fisher said they have already written to all sporting federations if they could organise something for the women on the day. The Flour Mills of Fiji sponsored Fiji Games will be held from August 24-29 in Lautoka.
The committee is now waiting for sporting federations to confirm their request of getting something organised for the women.
They expect to get a feedback from the federations by the end of this week.
She said they still have to decide whether they should have registration forms for women who would like to participate but they anticipate a good number of women turn up on the day.
This is also a day where mothers who have always been supporting their spouses and children in sports should come and try other different sports.
