Theme: The Third Global Congress of Women in Politics and Governance (Focus on Gender and Climate Change)

Description: Women and environment experts have raised concern over the absence of women in the discourse and debate on climate change, a global mainstream issue that is currently impacting the entire world. The involvement of women in areas of environmental management and governance should not be perceived as an afterthought. Women’s roles are of considerable importance in the promotion of environmental ethics. The current imperative is for women to understand the phenomenon of climate change and its impacts and implications at the individual, household, community and national levels. Studies show that women have a definite information deficit on climate politics and climate protection. Only with this information can women their proper, significant and strategic role in the issue of climate change. The overall purpose of the Congress is to provide a forum for women legislators and women in decision-making and governance as well as environment organizations at all levels, in formulating gender-responsive legislations and policies.

Theme: 7th Leadership Course on Gender, Sexuality, and Health in Southeast Asia and China

Description: This 19-day leadership course aims to provide the participants with context-specific and gender-sensitive knowledge on sexuality and health in Southeast Asia and China. Special attention will be devoted to exploring how gender and sexuality conceptual frameworks and methodological approaches can be applied to enhance health outcomes in the region. The three main objectives of the course are:
To explore the linkages between gender, sexuality, and health within the socio-cultural, economic, political, and historical contexts of Southeast Asia and China.
To develop critical thinking and contextualized understanding of gender and sexuality as they affect health outcomes in the region.
To build capacity to apply these perspectives to improve health policies and programs.

Theme: Justice Sector Reform: Applying Human Rights Based Approaches

Description: The aim of this IHRN training programme is to enhance skills of participants in applying Human Rights Based Approaches to Justice Sector Reform. It will facilitate the development of knowledge and skills regarding:
· The legal principles, policies and practice underpinning human rights based approaches to justice sector reform
· The inter-linkages between justice sector actors (law enforcement, judicial, corrections, etc)
· The relationship between the justice sector and related terms such as 'security sector', 'rule of law', 'good governance'
· Human Rights Based needs assessment, prgramme design, implementation, as well as mentoring, monitoring & evaluation
· Programming tools and checklists (including Human Rights Based benchmarks and indicators of change)
· Case studies from national contexts as well as international field missions (including conflict and post-conflict)
· Teamwork, advocacy and strategic partnerships

Theme: 13th International Anti-Corruption Conference

Description: Since its inception in 1983, the biennial IACC has become the premier global forum for effective global and national anti-corruption advocacy and action. Government officials, civil society and business people meet to exchange experiences and ideas about the fight against corruption, assess existing strategies and develop new approaches. Transparency International, which serves as secretariat to the IACC Council, is working with its national chapter in the country, TI Greece and with the generous host, the Government of Greece to prepare the conference.
