This conference is the first in a series of conferences that will address HIV/AIDS and women in the Asia-Pacific region. This conference series is intended to be a forum in which national leaders, policy makers, programme managers, researchers, funding agencies and most importantly women, men and young people directly affected by the HIV AIDS crisis can meet and share knowledge and experiences related to HIV/AIDS in the region. This conference series will provide a venue to study the current trends in HIV transmission as well as to look at the commonalities and diversity of factors affecting Women and Girls and adding to their vulnerability to HIV infection. The conference series will provide opportunities to share best practices and successful experiences in programme implementation as well as identify the gaps in programme implementation, in research and in policy implementation.

DETAILS:
The training is intended for: local governments, elected officials, the bureaucracy (both legislative and executive); political parties; non-governmental organizations and other civil society groups with programs on governance; and training institutes for good governance. This course is composed of three modules that aim to enhance participants’ understanding of the link between gender and governance as well as increase their awareness of gender biases in governance. The modules were developed by the Center for Asia-Pacific Women in Politics (CAPWIP) with funding support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through its Asia-Pacific Gender Equality Network or APGEN.
